There has been a lot of talk recently about inbound marketing, even to the extent that some now tout that inbound marketing is the new "SEO". We were even asked recently if we were, and I quote, 'a north east inbound marketing agency?'
In typical Altius fashion, it's time to dispel a few myths about what inbound marketing is, what an inbound marketing agency does and how it may or may not work for you. Firstly, inbound marketing is just marketing - there is nothing "special" about it. When it was first explained to us by a leading north east inbound marketing agency, it was explained that previous forms of marketing have been intrusive - in the face of the potential customer and that inbound marketing will revolutionise marketing as we know it.
Apparently, very simply! If you place high quality content on your website, people will find it. Because it is of particular high quality, they are going to "love it" and share or link to it. Great! That sounds perfect, as we all know, quality link building is crucial to a high ranking within the search engines - but how will people find it in the first place. We were told through the search engines. Hmmm. There's the first issue straight away.
We like to think we know a thing or two about SEO. A standard fact is that regardless of how well optimised your content is, or how good or informative you believe it to be, without authority in your site, the page will NEVER appear in the search engines - any of them. Period. And this includes your blog, no matter how keyword rich your content is. In fact, Google now penalises sites that do not use blogging in the correct way!
